De make-up voor deze lente? Die is eclectisch, maar altijd fresh, fresh exciting. Van een glowy huid over grafische eyeliner en rode lippen tot felle kleuren op ogen. En dat ziet er niet carnavalesk uit.

De pastelkleurtjes bij Missoni, citroengeel bij Antonio Marras, de feloranje vegen bij Byblos, de zeemeerminblik bij Tatashi Shoji: opvallende kleuraccenten zetten op de modeweken ogen in de kijker. Soms als eenvoudige liner, erg vaak als artistieke penseelstreep. Het goede nieuws: het hoeft helemaal niet precies afgetekend en een vaste hand is dus geen must. “Felle kleuren werden diffuus aangebracht,” vertelt Ines Borgonjon, senior make-up artist bij m.a.c. “Als je ze te technisch en gedetailleerd aanbrengt, komt de look geforceerd over.” De rest van het gezicht houd je nude. Op je lippen komt eventueel een rozig waasje kleur.
Zo doe je het
“Er zijn geen regels: breng kleur gewoon op een persoonlijke manier aan. Vervaag oogschaduw met een fluffy blendborstel als nummer 217 van m.a.c. Breng enkel kleur in de arcadeboog aan voor een verfijnder resultaat. Of zet vooral de buitenste ooghoek aan. Felle, donkere kleuren staan mooier in de buitenste ooghoek waar ze je blik optisch liften. Lichte kleuren als geel in de binnenste ooghoek zorgen voor een open blik.”
Toch niet zeker of felle kleur iets voor jou is? Tom Pêcheux, artistiek directeur van YSL Beauté, weet raad. “Voeg kleur toe aan je zwarte lijntje of smoky eye. Of ga voor zwarte mascara op je bovenste en blauwe op je onderste wimpers.”

Make-up this spring might be eclectic but it always looks fresh, fresh exciting. Whether you go for glowy skin, graphic liner or a bright red lip. Or bold colour on your lids, without looking like you are ready for carnaval at Rio.
Pastels at Missoni, lemony yellow at Antonio Marras, bright orange at Byblos, mermaid eyes at Tatashi Shoji: brightly coloured eyes were everywhere on the catwalk. Sometimes as an eyeliner but most often as an artistic brush line. And the good news is that it need not be perfectly lined. “We applied bright colours diffusely,” says Ines Borgonjon, senior make-up artist at m.a.c. “If you apply them too technically and with too many details, it looks a bit forced.” The rest of the face is nude. Lips may get a hint of rosy colour.
How to
“There are no rules: you simply apply colour the way you want. Blend eyeshadow with a fluffy blending brush like m.a.c’s 217. Just apply some colour in the crease for a more refined result. Or apply it in the outer corner of the eye. Bright, bold colours are prettier in the outer corner where they lift the eye. Light colours like yellow look good in the inner corner where they open the eye.”
Not sure whether you can rock colourful make-up? Tom Pêcheux, artistic director at YSL Beauté, has some advice. “Add some colour to your black liner or smokey eye. Or use black mascara on the upper lash line and some blue on the lower lash line.”
