De make-up voor deze lente? Die is eclectisch, maar altijd fresh, fresh exciting. Van een glowy huid over grafische eyeliner tot felle kleuren op ogen. En rode/roze lippen natuurlijk.

Een nieuw seizoen aan modeweken is niet compleet zonder minstens vijftien paar rode lippen, van Milaan over Londen en Parijs tot New York. De kleur is niet nieuw (roze of oranje mag trouwens ook, als het maar opvalt), de manier waarop ze wordt gebruikt is dat wél. “We leven in een tijd waarin er niet raar wordt opgekeken als je experimenteert met je lipvorm,” vertelt Ines Borgonjon, senior make-up artist bij M.A.C. “Het draait bij lippen niet om de textuur of kleur, wel om de vrijheid die lipstick je geeft om jezelf uit te drukken.”
Vandaar dus dat er backstage zowel lipstick als gloss werd gebruikt, het resultaat glanzend of ultramat was, er letterlijk buiten de lijntjes werd getekend of alles precies werd aangebracht en make-up artists voor zowel uniforme kleur als ombré-effecten gingen. De rest van je look houd je neutraal, op eventueel ingetekende wenkbrauwen na.
Zo doe je het
Alles kan en mag. “Dit seizoen is er om te beginnen experimenteren,” aldus Borgonjon. “Laat twee kleuren in elkaar overlopen, creëer een dikke liplijn, maak je mond wat groter met lipstick, voeg wat glitter toe… Er is meer vrijheid in techniek zonder dat het effect vreemd lijkt. Zet je onderste lip aan en wrijf die over je bovenste: zo lijkt je cupidoboog misschien weg, maar dat is geen probleem. Je mag letterlijk buiten de lijntjes kleuren.”

Make-up this spring might be eclectic but it always looks fresh, fresh exciting. Whether you go for glowy skin, graphic liner or bold colour on your lids. Or a bright red lip.
A new fashion week season means at least 15 pairs of bold red lips. There is nothing new about the colour – pink or orange will do just fine, too – but the way in which it is being used is. “No one will look strangely at you if you experiment with the shape of your lips,” explains Ines Borgonjon, senior make-up artist at m.a.c. “It is not about the texture or colour on lips, this season is all about the freedom lipstick gives you to express yourself.”
Lipstick or gloss, ultra precise or blurry, shiny or matte, uniform or ombré… It doesn’t matter, just as long as you have fun using lipstick. (You best keep the rest of your make-up nude and neutral so your lips get all the attention.)
How to
Anything goes. “This season is about experimenting,” Borgonjon says. “Let two colours fade into each other, create a fat lip line, make your lips look bigger with lipstick, add some glitter… Apply lipstick on your bottom lip and rub it against your upper lip: your cupid’s bow might disappear but that’s okay. You can literally draw outside the lines.”
