De make-up voor deze lente? Die is eclectisch, maar altijd fresh, fresh exciting. Van grafische eyeliner over rode lippen tot felle kleuren op ogen. En de nieuwe nude? Die is glowy.

Zoals elk seizoen was nude, de favoriet van de modewereld, alomtegenwoordig op de catwalk. De “nieuwe” versie is “done, maar dat zie je niet”, aldus make-up artist Lloyd Simmonds. Het resultaat is erg natuurlijk en transparant – zo schemeren sproetjes mooi door – en zorgt voor een gezonde gloed. “Een glowy finish is moderner dan een matte,” vindt Crystal Die, beautyexpert bij Girlcrush Magazine en make-up artist. Overdadig contouren en highlighten zit er (gelukkig) niet meer in, je houdt het simpelweg bij een paar goed geplaatste highlights. Ook transparante gloss op je ogen is een optie voor een fris, hoogglanzend effect.
Nude betekent deze lente niet kleurloos. Blush die de natuurlijke blos op je wangen na een stevige wandeling imiteert brengt leven (en vorm) in je gezicht. Ook ogen en lippen kunnen een vleugje kleur krijgen, zolang het maar lijkt alsof die uit je huid komt.
Zo doe je het
“Blush is een manier om die frisse, gezonde look te creëren,” vertelt Ines Borgonjon, senior make-upartiest bij m.a.c. “Kies een tint die van nature in je huid zit na een stevige wandeling. Cream blush zorgt voor een mooi glowy effect. Breng ze aan op de appeltjes van je wangen voor een lief en schattig effect. Of werk de kleur wat uit richting oren, of vervaag haar een beetje naar onder toe voor een casual effect.”
“Crèmeblush staat heel natuurlijk en kan je ook gerust op je oogleden gebruiken,” vult Crystal Die aan. “Als je wat meer kleur en effect wil, is een poeder handig. Met een waaiervormige borstel creëer je een soft effect omdat de haartjes minder product opnemen.”
Ook highlighter helpt om een gezonde glow te faken. “Transparant, koraal, roze, goud; het kan allemaal,” aldus Borgonjon. “Masseer een crème of liquid highlighter als de Strobe Cream van m.a.c in op jukbeenderen, de neusbrug, de cupidoboog en oogleden. Kijk je in de spiegel en valt je highlighter meteen op? Dan heb je te veel product gebruikt. Je moet enkel wat glans zien als je je gezicht beweegt.”

Make-up this spring might be eclectic but it always looks fresh, fresh exciting. Whether you go for graphic liner, a bright red lip, bold colour or glowy skin. Are you ready for the new nude?
It was no surprise to see so many nude faces on the catwalk this season. The fashion world just loves nude. The “new” version is “done but without looking done”, says make-up artist Lloyd Simmonds. This season’s nude is very natural and transparant – freckles still show through – and has a healthy glow. “A glowy finish is so much more modern than a matte one,” says Crystal Die, beauty expert at Girlcrush Magazine and make-up artist. The days of excessive contours and highlights are over (hooray!), some cleverly placed highlights do the trick. Or you add some transparant gloss on your eyelids for a fresh vibe.
Nude does not mean no colour. Blush that mimics the natural flush on your cheeks after a good long walk brings your face to life and shapes it. Eyes and lips can also get a hint of colour, as long as it looks like it is coming from within your skin.
How to
“Blush is perfect to help you create a fresh, healthy look,” says Ines Borgonjon, senior make-up artist at m.a.c. “Choose a colour that is similar to the flush you see after a good walk. Cream blush is great if you want a glowy effect. Apply it on the apples of your cheeks for a cute and soft effect. Or blend the colour a bit more in the direction of your ears or blend it a bit more down the cheeks for a more casual look.”
“Cream blush looks very natural and can be used on your eyelids as well,” adds Crystal Die. “If you like a bit more colour, a powder blush comes in handy. Use a fan-like brush for a soft effect.”
You can also fake a healthy glow with highlighter. “Transparant, coral, pink, gold… anything goes,” says Borgonjon. “Massage cream or liquid highlighter like m.a.c’s Strobe Cream into cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your eyelids. If you look into the mirror and you can immediately spot your highlights, you have used too much product. You should only see a soft shimmer when you move your face.”
