Onder invloed van de selfiegeneratie, celebrities als Kim Kardashian en de talloze Snapchat- en Instastoriesfiltertjes is een stralende, egale huid de voorbije jaren een must geworden. Deze variant op de befaamde corrigerende météoritesbolletjes zorgt voor een erg subtiele, gezonde glow of wat de Fransen zo mooi bonne mine noemen. Niet baanbrekend, wel mooi.
All Over Glow in Sole van Bobbi Brown (€ 40)
Bobbi Brown mixte squalaan, vaak gebruikt in hydraterende skincare, met pigmenten en pareldeeltjes in deze limited edition. Het resultaat is een héél glowy soort dagcrème die voor een sporty, een beetje vochtige glow zorgt zoals je ze wel eens op de catwalk ziet.
Synchro Skin Illuminator in Rose Gold van Shiseido (€ 38)
Een heel zachte crèmehighlighter met erg fijne parelmoerdeeltjes voor een heel subtiel en natuurlijk effect. De formule bevat mineraalwater uit Kirishima en het Synchro Skin om de huid te hydrateren.
Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in 050 Molten Rose Gold van Maybelline New York (€ 12,99, bij Kruidvat en Di)
Laat je niet misleiden door de naam van deze poederhighlighter: ja, hij is metallic, maar het effect blijft verrassend natuurlijk.
Touche Eclat All-in-One-Glow Foundation van Yves Saint Laurent (€ 47)
Een Instagramfilter in een tube. Deze foundation voelt aan als dagcrème en bevat hydraterende bestanddelen die de huid de hele dag door beloven te voeden. Hij zorgt meteen voor een indrukwekkende, gezonde gloed. Beschikbaar in 12 tinten.
Bouncy Highlighter in N°1 African Light Gold van Givenchy (€ 40,50, vanaf 13 april beschikbaar)
Een zachte highlighter met een bouncy formule die naar frangipani ruikt en fris aanvoelt. De gouden parelmoerdeeltjes zijn mooi als highlighter of op je ogen. De etnische motieven zijn net als de rest van de zomercollectie van Givenchy geïnspireerd op Zuid-Afrika.
Teint Idole Ultra Wear Custom Highlight Drops in Rose Glow van Lancôme (€ 39,90)
Je mengt deze vloeibare highlighter onder je foundation of gebruikt haar rechtstreeks als highlighter. De formule zit propvol parelmoerdeeltjes (je hebt dus erg weinig nodig), maar het resultaat op de huid blijft natuurlijk en gesofisticeerd. Deze tint moet onder foundation je teint warmer en frisser maken. Lancôme raadt haar aan als highlighter voor de donkere huid, maar ze staat ook mooi op een blekere huid.
Miracle Glow Duo van Max Factor (€ 17,99, vanaf 23 april beschikbaar bij Kruidvat)
Dit concealer- en highlighterduo is een aanrader voor highlighterdummies. Er kan in principe weinig mislopen. Je brengt de crèmige formules makkelijk aan met je vingers. En het effect van de highlighter is erg subtiel, van overdaad is dus geen sprake. Verkrijbaar in 3 duo’s.
Infaillible Anti-Fatigue Primer van L’Oréal Paris (€ 14,99, bij Kruidvat en Di)
Je ziet er vermoeid uit? Dat moet deze abrikooskleurige primer instant verdoezelen. Ook mooi als je een gezonde gloed wil.
Holographic Highlighter Stick in 002 Prismatic van BE Creative Make Up (€ 14,95, bij Ici Paris XL)
Een handige highlighterstick met iriserende pigmenten voor een zacht gouden effect. Holografisch is veel gezegd. (En gelukkig maar.)

Which is why make-up brands keep launching new highlighters, glowy foundations and all sorts of primers that appeal to everyone who likes a full-on fake glow (and some holographic highlighter) but also for anyone who likes to keep things more natural.

This hybrid cream is a sort of next generation BB cream. It offers medium coverage and a healthy glow but also nourishes skin thanks to plant-based glycerin, hyaluronic acid and moringa extract. It leaves skin feeling comfortable and soft all day long. The SPF 23 is a nice bonus on sunny work days when you do not spend a lot of time in the sun. Available in 8 colours.

This variation on the skin correcting météorites balls gives skin a very subtle healthy glow or as the French like to call it: bonne mine. Not revolutionary but still pretty.

This cream highlighter has some very fine shiny pearl particles that leave behind a very soft, subtle and natural veil. The formula with mineral water from Kirishima and the Synchro Skin complex also promises to hydrate.

Don’t be misled by its name: this powder highlighter is metallic, yes, but the effect is still soft and natural.

You can mix this fluid highlighter with your foundation for an all over healthy and fresh effect. Or you use it on its own as a highlighter. The formula is packed with pearl particles so a little goes a very long way but the result stays natural and sophisticated. Lancôme advises this colour as the perfect highlighter on dark skin but it looks very pretty on paler skin tones, too.

This concealer and highlighter duo is perfect for highlighter dummies. You cannot get this wrong: the creamy formula is easy to blend with your fingers and the effect of the highlighter is so subtle that you do not have to worry you will end up looking like a 70’s disco ball. Available in 3 duos.

You look tired? This apricot coloured primer is supposed to hide that tiredness immediately. But it is also handy if you want to create a healthy glow.
Holographic Highlighter Stick in 002 Prismatic, BE Creative Make Up (14,95 €, at Ici Paris XL)
A handy highlighter stick with iridescent pigments for a soft golden effect. If you are really into holographic make-up, this might be a bit of a let down. If you just want a soft glow, this is great.
