Winkelhieren om je huid tegen de zon te beschermen werd dit jaar een stuk makkelijker. Met dank aan deze Belgische zonnecrèmes.

Wilde je een paar jaar geleden zonbescherming van een Belgisch merk, dan kon je enkel bij Nannic terecht voor zijn UV-Shield, een fijne spray met SPF20 voor elke dag die je ook over make-up kan verstuiven als snelle touch-up overdag. Deze zomer is je keuze een stuk uitgebreider geworden en kan je ook makkelijk je lichaam beschermen tegen de zon. (De Nannicspray is voor het gezicht bedoeld. Hij zou snel leeg zijn mocht je er ook je hele lichaam mee beschermen.)
Deze lente lanceerde Ciska Dings van de webshop Things by Dings haar eigen gamma zonbescherming, Skin by Dings. De producten zijn lief voor huid en oceaan en geschikt voor en geliefd door het hele gezin, moeilijke man en kind incluis, want de producten plakken niet en zijn handig in gebruik.
De natuurlijke huidverzorgingsmerken Rainpharma en Self kwamen deze zomer dan weer elk met zonbescherming met 100% minerale filters. En TIME, het huismerk van Ici Paris XL (de parfumerieketen is niet langer in Belgische handen, maar ik vind het merk het vermelden waard) lanceerde onlangs een beschermende fluïde voor elke dag met een SPF50+. Die is Made in France, de vier overige merken produceren op Belgische bodem.

Self koos voor de minerale filter zinkoxide en een SPF30. (Een SPF50 met minerale filters is erg moeilijk te formuleren, zeker als je een gebruiksvriendelijk product wil dat makkelijk uitsmeert.) Ook al is de filter non nano, toch belooft het merk geen witte waas. De formule belooft de huid ook te hydrateren en voeden, druivenpitolie moet op vroegtijdige huidveroudering inwerken. De formule bevat geen toegevoegd parfum en is 100% vegan.
Beschermende Anti-Age Fluid SPF50+ van TIME, € 19,95, bij Ici Paris XL.
Niet meer in Belgische handen (Ici Paris XL maakt deel uit van de A.S. Watsongroep), maar wél het vermelden waard. Deze hydraterende fluïde is bedoeld voor wie graag het hele jaar door haar/zijn gezicht tegen de zonnestralen beschermt. Ze beschermt tegen uv, infrarood en blauw licht en belooft geen vette film achter te laten. Geschikt voor elk huidtype. Geparfumeerd.
The Next Best Things Multi-Protection Face Mist SPF30 van Skin by Dings, € 40.
Het paradepaardje van het merk moet zonbescherming on the go fuss-free maken. Even verstuiven – ook makkelijk over make-up – en klaar. Waar veel beschermende sprays vooral focussen op beschermen tegen de zon, doet deze veel meer, wat hem het perfecte SPF meets anti-ageingproduct maakt (en zijn populariteit verklaart). Naast bescherming tegen uva en uvb beschermt de formule je huid ook tegen blauw licht en pollutie, hydrateert ze de huid, werkt ze in op huidveroudering en helpt ze de huidbarrière versterken.
De geparfumeerde formule houdt de huid ook mat – volgens Dings is ze ook een aanrader op kale hoofden – en belooft de huid gladder te maken waardoor poriën en fijne lijntjes minder opvallen. Wel goed schudden voor gebruik. Ook goed om weten: de spray werkt op lucht, niet op drijfgas.
Wel even opletten: een spray is érg handig, maar zorg er wel voor dat je voldoende product verstuift om aan de vermelde SPF te raken. Het risico bestaat dat je onvoldoende sprayt omdat dat zo vlot gaat en dat je niet goed kan inschatten hoeveel je al hebt gebruikt. (Mijn vriend gebruikt deze spray en die voor het lichaam al eventjes en is tot nu toe niet verbrand.)
Natural Daylight Defence Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 van Rainpharma, € 19,95 voor 50 ml.
Ook het Leuvense verzorgingsmerk koos voor zinkoxide in non-nanovorm en zonder witte waas. De ingrediënten van deze crème voor gezicht en lichaam zijn dezelfde als die van Self, maar in een licht andere volgorde. (Ik beweer niet dat het krak dezelfde producten zijn. Zelfs bij een identieke INCI kunnen de concentraties van elk bestanddeel nog verschillen waardoor je een ander product krijgt.)
Handig: naast een 50 ml is er ook een 200 ml, wat me interessanter lijkt als je deze ook op je lichaam wil gebruiken.

Shopping Belgian products to protect your skin against the sun just got easier this year. Meet the new Belgian sunscreens.
If you wanted to use Belgian sun protection a couple of years ago, you could only get the (very user-friendly) UV-Shield by Nannic, a facial spray with an SPF20 you can also use over your make-up, which makes it perfect for a quick sunscreen touch-up during the day. This summer you have more options and can protect your body against uv, too. (The Nannic spray is meant to be used on the face, you would quickly run out otherwise.)
Ciska Dings from webshop Things by Dings launched her own sunscreen range this spring. Skin by Dings is good for your skin and the ocean and suitable for and loved by the entire family – including husbands and children that hate slapping on traditional sunscreen creams! – as the products do not feel sticky and are handy to use.
Natural skincare brands Rainpharma and Self each launched their 100% mineral sunscreen this summer. And TIME, ICI Paris XL’s own skincare brand (I know ICI Paris XL is no longer all Belgian but I think the brand is worth mentioning) launched a protective fluid with an SPF50+ recently. That one is made in France, the four other brands produce their products in Belgium.

Self chose the mineral filter zinc oxide and an SPF30. (It is very hard to make an SPF50 with all mineral filters, especially if you want to make a consumer-friendly product that is easy to apply and massage into skin.) Even though the filter is non nano, the brand promises it will not leave a white cast. The formula also promises to hydrate and nourish skin, grape seed oil has to protect against skin ageing. The formula does not contain added fragrance and is 100% vegan.
Protective Anti-Age Fluid SPF50+ by TIME, 19,95 €, at Ici Paris XL.
Ici Paris XL is part of the A. S. Watson group so it is no longer 100% Belgian but this product is worth mentioning. This hydrating fluid is perfect for anyone who wants to protect his/her face against uv all year long. It also protects against infrared and blue light and promises to not feel sticky. It is suited for every skin type. Fragranced formula.

The brand’s pride and joy promises fuss-free sun protection on the go. Just spray and go, it also works on top of make-up and helps set it. A lot of sunscreen sprays focus on sun protection only but this one does a lot more. SPF meets anti-ageing skincare in this formula, which explains its popularity. It not only protects against uva and uvb but also against blue light and pollution, it hydrates skin, tackles skin ageing and promises to strengthen the skin barrier.
The fragrance formula also keeps skin looking matte, not shiny – Dings says it works great on bald(ing) heads as well – and promises to make skin smooth so pores and fine lines are less noticeable. Make sure you shake it well, like a cocktail. Good to know: the spray works with oxygen, not with propellants.
I just want to point out that even though a spray is extremely handy, you have to make sure you use enough of the formula to make sure you get the SPF protection mentioned on the bottle. There is a risk you will not use enough product as it is so easy to use and/or that you simply have no idea how much you have already used. (My boyfriend has been using this spray and the one for the body for a while now and has not got sunburned so far.)

The skincare brand from Leuven also chose non-nano zinc oxide that does not leave a white cast. The ingredients of this sunscreen for face and body are the same as those of Self but are used in a slightly different order. (I am not implying they are the same. Even if you have two products with identical INCIs their ingredients can have different concentrations.)
Handy: you can buy a 50 ml, which is perfect for the face, or a 200ml, which is great if you also want to protect your body.
