Omdat mooie beautycadeaus niet altijd een lekker toegevoegd geurtje hoeven te hebben: met deze 5 limited editions maak je élke beautyfanaat blij.

Hét Secret Santa-horrorscenario: je moet een geschenk vinden voor iemand die érg veel van mooie en goede beautyproducten houdt, maar allergisch is aan parfum(bestanddelen). (Overeenkomsten met mijn eigen leven zijn geheel toevallig…) Wat koop je dan in ‘s hemelsnaam voor hem/haar/x, dat én een mooi hebbeding is, én goed is, én niet tot een jeukende allergische reactie leidt?
Wel, die parfumallergie hoeft niet te betekenen dat je naar de apotheek* moet voor een cadeau, want ook in de limited edition-kerstcollecties van parfumerie- en nichemerken zitten niet-geparfumeerde goodies. Ik bespaarde je de research – door haast onleesbare INCI’s scrollen – en selecteerde deze vijf producten uit de kerstcollecties van dit jaar. (Die koop je, als je in België woont, liefst van al in een Belgische (web)shop!)
(*Dat is ook een optie: ook apothekersmerken komen in deze periode met cadeausets. Dubbelcheck wel of alles in zo’n set ongeparfumeerd is, want ook in de apotheek vind je erg veel geparfumeerde producten, al dan niet (écht) hypoallergeen.)
Make-up
Lippenstiften laat je beter voor wat ze zijn omdat de meeste geparfumeerd zijn of aroma bevatten, net als foundations trouwens, maar die koop je niet makkelijk als cadeau voor iemand. Make-up in poedervorm is dan weer doorsnee ongeparfumeerd. Maar check de INCI altijd: blush die naar abrikoossnoep en zonnepoeder die naar chocola ruiken bestaan, net als de naar viooltjes geurende Météorites-bolletjes van Guerlain.

Golden Nights 5 Couleurs Couture in 549 Golden Snow van Christian Dior, € 66,67.
Dit oogschaduwpallet is een goede multitasker: erg fijn om een metallic smokey eye mee te creëren voor pakweg Oudjaar, maar ook goed voor een meer basic, dagdagelijkse look als je het bij één of twee van de lichte(re) tinten houdt. De zachtroze tint in de linkerbovenhoek staat iedereen en zorgt meteen voor een meer uitgeslapen, frissere blik.
Les Chaînes de Chanel Illuminating Blush Powder in Or Rosé van Chanel, € 60.
Deze goudroze highlighter staat niet alleen mooi als highlighter op jukbeenderen, maar ook als oogschaduw of op wangen en voorhoofd voor een gezonde gloed.
Weetje. Het motief verwijst naar de kenmerkende schakelkettingen die Coco Chanel bedacht en die terugkomen als halssnoer, maar ook aan de handtassen van het modehuis.
The Fashion Flirty Palette van Chiara Ferragni x Lancôme, € 59,90, exclusief bij Planet Parfum.
Een alles-in-één-palette voor wie van wat glitter in het leven houdt: de oogschaduwprimer staat ook mooi als oogschaduw voor elke dag, met de acht uiteenlopende tinten oogschaduw experimenteer je met avond- en daglooks en met de rozige blush, twee tinten highlighter en een universeel zonnepoeder kan je shapen en contouren. Goed geprijsd ook voor zo’n goed, met kleuren die de doorsnee persoon durft te gebruiken gevuld pallet.
Skincare
Skincare kopen voor iemand anders is moeilijk, maar niet zo moeilijk als je het basic en simpel houdt. Een goede bodylotion kan iedereen gebruiken, zéker in de winter, net als een hydraterende gezichtscrème.
Crème de Corps van Kiehl’s, € 31,50, op de Belgische webshop, bij Senteurs d’Ailleurs in Brussel, of in één van de Kiehl’s-winkels in ons land.
Miranda uit Sex & the City had een fles op haar nachttafeltje staan en hij is al jaren één van de bestsellers van het Amerikaanse merk: deze bodylotion met glycerine, cacaoboter en squalaan is lief voor de huidbarrière, voedt de droge(re) huid goed en doet haar zacht en soepel aanvoelen.
Ultra Facial Cream van Kiehl’s, € 29,50.
Nog zo’n cultproduct van Kiehl’s: deze hydraterende dagcrème voelt simpelweg fijn aan (de lichtgewicht textuur dringt meteen in de huid) en houdt de vochtbalans van de huid op peil. De beloftes: 24 uur lang een huid die gehydrateerd en soepel aanvoelt. Een aanrader voor hem een haar. (Mijn vriend is trouwe fan van deze crème, ik smeerde hem in het verleden ook al.)
De Franse grafisch ontwerpster en kunstenaar Maité Franchi stond dit jaar in voor de vrolijke illustraties van de kerstcollectie van Kiehl’s.

Pretty beauty gifts need not always smell nice: these 5 limited editions will put a smile on any beauty lover’s face.
The Secret Santa horror scenario: you have to buy a gift for someone who is really into beauty but is allergic to fragrance (components). (Any similarities with my own life are completely coincidental…) What could you get him/her/X that is A. nice to look at, B. good quality, and C. will not give him/her/X an itchy allergic reaction?
Well, the fragrance allergy does not mean you have to go to the pharmacy* to buy a gift, limited edition Christmas collections from big and niche brands contain some fragrance-free goodies, too. I have saved you the hassle of scrolling through nearly illegible INCI lists and selected these five products from this year’s holiday collections. (Please, shop them locally!)
(*Going to the pharmacy is another option: pharmacy brands also have Christmas gift sets. Just make sure the products inside are fragrance-free, as a lot of products at the pharmacy are not, or contain hypoallergenic fragrance. The latter does not mean someone who is allergic to fragrance will not react to it, but chances are bigger he/she will not.)
Make-up
Lipsticks are a no go as most of them are fragranced or contain aroma. The same goes for foundations – but who wants to buy someone the right shade foundation anyway? – but powder make-up is generally speaking fragrance-free. However, do check the INCI of every product: blush that smells like apricot candy does exist, as do Guerlain’s Météorites pearls that smell like violet candy and bronzing powder that smells like chocolate.

This is one fine multitasking eye shadow palette: you can use it to create a New Year’s Eve worthy metallic smokey eye but it also comes in handy when you do your quick daily make-up look. Do you see that soft pink shade in the left corner? It’s the kind of colour that suits anyone and makes your eyes instantly look bigger and more awake.
Les Chaînes de Chanel Illuminating Blush Powder in Or Rosé, Chanel, 60 €.
This gold pink highlighter can be used to highlight your cheekbones but don’t be afraid to use it as an eye shadow or on your cheeks and forehead to create a healthy glowy look, too.
Fun fact. The motif in the powder refers to the chains Coco Chanel loved using in her designs and are still a signature of the fashion house.

An all-in-one palette for those who like a bit of sparkle in their life: the eyeshadow primer looks great as an eyeshadow on its own, you can create tons of day and night looks with the eight eye shadow colours and the pink blush, two highlighters and universal bronzing powder are good for shaping and contouring. The colours are not over the top, meaning most people will not be afraid to play around with them. Very well priced, to boot.
Skincare
Buying skincare for someone else can be hard but is not impossible if you keep it simple and basic. Everyone can use a good bodylotion, especially in winter, and the same goes for a hydrating facial cream.

It’s been a bestseller of the brand for years – fun fact: Miranda from Sex & the City had a bottle on her bedside table – and with good reason: this bodylotion with glycerin, cocoa butter and squalane treats the skin barrier (of dry skin) well and makes skin feel soft and smooth.
Ultra Facial Cream, Kiehl’s, 29,50 €.
This cult product feels great on skin – it’s lightweight and immediately melts into skin – and keeps skin’s moisture level well balanced. It promises 24 hours of hydration for skin that feels and looks smooth and soft. It is a great unisex buy, too: my boyfriend has been using this cream loyally ever since I gave him a jar at the beginning of our relationship, and I have loved using it in the past, too.
