Je vergeet wel eens dat ook je lichaam uit huid bestaat? Deze scrubs, douchegels, bodylotions en lichaamsolies geven je oprecht zin om je grootste orgaan goed te verzorgen.

Voor je gezicht investeerde je in een cleanser, serum, oog- en dagcrème, een dagelijkse zonnebescherming, een masker en een peeling die je dagelijks of eens per week gebruikt, maar je lichaam durf je al eens vergeten. Omdat het de helft van het jaar toch verborgen zit onder lagen kledij. Of omdat je geen zin hebt in nog meer werk ‘s morgens vroeg in de badkamer. Maar ook die huid verdient verzorging en aandacht.
Gebruik de zomermaanden – als het wat rustiger is en de dagen langer lijken en je doorsnee ook veel meer huid showt dan in de winter – om een routine op te bouwen: eens per week geef je je hele lichaam een grondige scrubbeurt en na elke douche/elk bad smeer je het goed in met bodylotion of lichaamsolie. (De zon droogt je huid wat uit. Bodylotion is dus ook in de zomer een goed idee. Je kan eventueel wel switchen naar een frisse lotion in plaats van een vettere balsem.) Vergeet ook je handen en voeten niet. Het resultaat: een gladde(re) en zachte huid zonder de grauwgrijze schijn van dode huidcellen én minder ingegroeide haartjes. Met deze producten wordt je huid verzorgen meteen ook een stuk aangenamer.
Minimalistisch wit
Huile Sublime van Pureté Bio (€ 26, in de natuurwinkel en bij de apotheek)
Dit Belgische natuurlijke skincaremerk van het West-Vlaamse Keypharm (dat ook Physalis, Biotona en The Herbalist Gin produceert) lanceerde eind vorig jaar een serum, voedingssupplementen en deze olie. Die gebruik je op je gezicht en lichaam, maar voedt ook droge haarpunten. Elf plantaardige oliën waaronder sesam, argan, zonnebloem en druivenpit, verzorgen je huid, een mix van negen essentiële oliën zorgt voor een natuurlijk parfum. (Als je huid essentiële oliën doogt.)
Aromatherapy Essentials Glowing Sugar Cane Scrub van Rainpharma (€ 29)
Deze natuurlijke suikerscrub combineert ruwe rietsuiker, tarwekiem- en macadamiaolie en plantaardige waxen om je huid glad te maken en te voeden. Allergisch aan parfum? Dan is dit een perfect neutrale formule. Je houdt wel van een geurtje? Voeg enkele druppels van je favoriete essentiële olie toe.
What Remains is You Energizing Shower Gel van Close Brussels (€ 12,90, bij Planet Parfum)
Het huismerk van Planet Parfum gaat voor grotendeels natuurlijke formules aan een goede prijs. Deze douchegel is vrij van sodium lauryl sulfate (het ‘schuimbestanddeel’ dat de huid kan uitdrogen), bestaat voor 94% uit natuurlijke ingrediënten en geeft je een oppepper dankzij pepermuntextract en tea tree-olie.
Pure Camille Limited Edition van Yves Rocher (€ 6,90)
Dit is voor Yves Rocher wat de blauwe pot voor Nivea is, maar dan met een iets meer natuurlijk, minerale olievrije formule. Deze zachte crème met kamillebloemwater verzacht, voedt en verzorgt.
N° 5 L’Eau On Hand Cream van Chanel (€ 56)
Na het succes van de eivormige Crème Main is er nu deze limited edition die een vleugje N° 5 L’Eau op je huid achterlaat. De fijne textuur trekt snel in, de formule houdt je huid zacht en glad dankzij ondermeer glycerine, karitéboter, zonnebloemolie en hyaluronzuur (dat wel op het einde van de formule zit). Het huis noemt het hand and body cream, maar aan die prijs zou ik het enkel op mijn handen smeren.
Vakantievibes
Vetiver & Grapefruit Bath & Shower Gel van Molton Brown (€ 22, o.m. bij Parfuma in Antwerpen en Senteurs d’Ailleurs in Brussel)
De perfecte combinatie van frisse, een tikje bittere grapefruit met mannelijke vetiver zorgt elke ochtend voor een boost in de douche. Er zit sodium laureth sulfate in de formule, wat volgens Paula Begoun van Paula’s Choice een goede, zachte schuimmaker is, in tegenstelling tot zusje sodium lauryl sulfate.
Huile Prodigieuse limited edition van Nuxe (€ 29,99)
Het Franse skincaremerk stopt deze zomer zijn bestseller in een zonnig jasje. De formule houdt je huid zacht en soepel en mag ook op de haarpunten. Je moet wel fan zijn van de (vrij) sterke geur van deze olie.
Polishing Bar van Epoch (€ 20,11)
Dit zeepvrije zeepje belooft je huid heel zacht te exfoliëren en schoon te maken en geurt naar het bos.
Thé des Vignes Shower Gel van Caudalie (€ 10,60)
Deze zeepvrije douchegel zorgt voor een vleugje frisheid onder de douche en reinigt je huid zacht.
Bath Therapy Relaxing Blend Body Smoothing Scrub van Biotherm (€ 20)
De gelachtige formule met zout, arganpoeder, perliet en salicylzuur moet de huid glad en zacht maken. Het parfum met rozemarijn en gojibessen moet je laten ontspannen.
Arganhandcrème van Douce Nature (€ 6,30)
Deze handcrème met biologische, fairtrade arganolie, karitéboter en aloë vera belooft de huid te verzachten en verzorgen.
The Ritual of Happy Buddha Buddha Belly Body Cream van Rituals (€ 17,50)
Een rijke bodycrème met ondermeer vitamine E, centella asiatica en zonnebloemolie en met de vrolijke geur van sinaasappel en cederhout.

You sometimes forget that your body, too, is covered in skin? These scrubs, shower gels, bodylotions and oils make you want to treat your skin to some TLC just in time for all those summer tops, dresses, shorts and skirts that bear (almost) all.
You invested in a cleanser, serum, eye and day cream, a daily sunscreen, a mask and a peeling for your face that you diligently use every single day or week but you tend to forget to treat the skin of the rest of your body to some extra care? As half of the year it is being covered in layers of clothing? Well, that is not an excuse, it, too, deserves some attention. Why not use the summer months – when things slow down, days seem longer and you show more skin than in winter – to build a routine. Once a week you give your body a thorough scrub, after every shower/bath you slather on some bodylotion or oil. (The sun tends to dry out skin, so bodylotion should not be skipped during the summer. You can, however, switch to a more fluid, lighter formula than a thick cream if you want to.) And don’t forget your hands and feet. The result: soft(er), smooth(er) skin without a grayish layer of dead skin cells and less ingrown hairs.

This Belgian natural skincare brand launched at the end of last year with a serum, skin supplements and this oil. You can use it on your body, face and on dry hair ends. Eleven vegetable oils like sesame, argan, sunflower and grape seed nourish skin, a mix of nine essential oils forms a natural perfume. (If your skin can take essential oils.)
Aromatherapy Essentials Glowing Sugar Cane Scrub, Rainpharma (29 €)
This natural sugar scrub combines raw cane sugar, macadamia oil and vegetable waxes to make skin smooth and nourish it. You can add some drops of your favourite essential oil to give the scrub a fragrance. Allergic to perfume? This is a perfectly neutral formula.

Pure Camille Limited Edition, Yves Rocher (6,90€)
Nivea has its blue jar, Yves Rocher its Pure Camille with a formula that is a bit more natural and free from mineral oils. This soft cream with chamomile flower water soothes, nourishes and hydrates.
N° 5 L’Eau On Hand Cream, Chanel (56€)
Chanel takes the success of its egg-shaped hand cream further with this limited edition that leaves a hint of N°5 L’Eau behind on your skin. The texture penetrates quickly, the formula keeps skin soft and smooth thanks to glycerin, shea butter, sunflower oil and hyaluronic acid (mentioned at the end of the INCI list, so its plumping effects will be minimal). The brand calls it a hand and body cream but with a price tag like this one I would only use it on hands.
Holiday vibes
Vetiver & Grapefruit Bath & Shower Gel, Molton Brown (22€)
The perfect combination of fresh, slightly bitter grapefruit and slightly masculine vetiver gives you(r mood) a boost with every shower you take. The formula contains sodium laureth sulfate, which according to Paula Begoun from Paula’s Choice is a good, soft foam creating ingredient, not like its brother sodium lauryl sulfate.
