Is het een getinte dagcrème, is het een foundation? Nee, dat is het niet. Het is een hybride – BB cream meets foundation – voor een glowy, natuurlijke huid.

De kans dat je elke dag van de lockdown volledig gemakeupt achter je laptop zit in je home office voor videocalls met de collega’s is klein – als dat het geval is: chapeau, ik werk altijd make-uploos en in comfy outfit, corona of niet – en momenteel houden belangrijkere dingen de meeste mensen bezig, maar wat ontspanning en afleiding kan nooit kwaad. Dus bij deze: maak kennis met een opvallende lancering in foundationland deze lente: hybride producten die eerder aanleunen bij getinte dagcrème dan bij erg dekkende foundation. Hun formules mixen een vleugje tot medium dekking met hydraterende bestanddelen en beschermende antioxidanten en zijn ideaal voor mensen die van een naturelle look houden.
Twee grote voordelen: deze hybrides smeren net zo makkelijk uit als dagcrème en de kans op een maskereffect is klein omdat hun beperkte kleuraanbod wat meer passe partout is. (Wel jammer dat ze niet voor élke huidskleur cateren in tijden van inclusivity.)
Heel veel dekking geven ze niet, maar ze zorgen wel voor een mooie ik slaap elke nacht 8 uur en leef gezond-gloed. De toegevoegde SPF is een fijne bonus, ook al smeer je nooit de juiste hoeveelheid – dat is véél – om effectief die beschermingsfactor te krijgen. Maar best van al: ze voelen niet aan alsof je je huid hebt vol geplamuurd.

Milky Boost Healthy Glow Milk van Clarins, € 38
De pigmenten in deze ‘make-upmelk’ barsten open wanneer je de formule uitsmeert en passen zich aan je huidskleur aan. Dat ziet er geweldig uit wanneer je het product uitsmeert, maar rode wangen verdoezelen ze niet. Je huid ziet er wél een tikje egaler uit en geurt naar abrikozenyoghurt, wat niet iedereen even fijn vindt. Dit is een fijn product voor wie an sich al een mooie, vrij egale huid heeft en wat extra gloed wil.

Phyto Hydra Teint van Sisley, € 88
Jammer van het prijskaartje (het is en blijft Sisley), maar dit is mijn favoriet van de vijf. De crème geeft een mooie medium dekking die je kan opbouwen en heeft een zachte gloed-finish. Vergelijkbaar met een licht dekkende foundation. Met een SPF15.

Miracle Second Skin Hybrid Foundation van Max Factor, € 17,99
Je kan de dekking opbouwen, maar ze blijft licht. Ik vond de formule wat stroef om uit te werken, maar ze heeft wel een heldere finish én een SPF20. Ze is ook helemaal mee met de trend en bevat zowel pre als probiotica die het huidmicrobioom gelukkig moeten houden.

Teint Couture City Balm van Givenchy, € 43,90, bij Ici Paris XL
Met 12 tinten (van licht tot vrij donker) en 3 ondertonen (koud, warm en neutraal) is deze balsem de meest diverse van allemaal. Hij komt ook het dichtst in de buurt van ‘gewone’ foundation, maar is wel wat minder dekkend. Mooie finish wel en aangenaam om dragen.
Teint Perfect Skin van Lierac, € 29,90, in de apotheek
Mijn huid voelt wat plakkerig aan na gebruik, ik gok dat dat de SPF20 is, maar het resultaat is wél mooi: mijn huid ziet er egaler en helderder uit. Vergelijkbaar met die van Sisley, maar die laatste doet mijn huid er nét iets beter uitzien.

Is it a tinted day cream? Is it a foundation? No. Enter the season of the BB cream meets foundation hybrid that turns skin all glowy and natural looking.
Chances are you are not sitting behind your laptop at your home office wearing make-up and an office appropriate outfit. I sure am not. (But I am never, corona lockdown or not.) And I know there are bigger things to worry about right now but on the other hand: we can all use some distraction while being stuck at home. Like reading about the foundation spring launch: hybrids that lean more into tinted day cream territory than that of covering foundation. Their formulas mix a bit to medium coverage with hydrating ingredients and antioxidants and are great for anyone who loves his/her skin to look as his/her skin but just a tad better.
Two big advantages: these products are as easy to use as day cream and will not look mask-like as their colours are a bit more one colour suits different skin tones than foundation is. (It is a pity though that they don’t cater for every skin colour in times that are supposed to be inclusive.)
They do not offer a lot of coverage but they will make you look like you just slept 8 hours and are living healthy. I like the fact most of them have an SPF, even though you will never apply the right amount of product to get that exact protection (it’s a LOT). And best of all: they do not feel like you are wearing a thick layer of make-up.
I tested all five of them. Good to know: they all have fragrance.
Milky Boost Healthy Glow Milk by Clarins, 38 €
The pigment in this make-up milk bursts open when you apply it on skin and adapts to your own skin colour. That looks fun while you apply it but it will not cover up red cheeks. However, this is a nice product if you have pretty good skin to start with and just want some extra glow. Good to know: it smells like apricot yogurt, which not everyone likes.

Phyto Hydra Teint by Sisley, 88 €
I know, this one has a hefty price tag but it is my favourite. The cream gives medium coverage that you can build up and has a subtle glowy finish. You can compare this one to a light foundation. It has an SPF15.

You can build up the coverage but it stays pretty light. I found the formula a bit hard to work with but it does have a bright finish and the formula is on trend as it contains pre and probiotics. Plus, an SPF20!

This one comes in 12 colours (from pale to pretty dark) and 3 undertones (cold, warm, neutral), which makes it the most inclusive one of all. It is also the most foundation like one of the bunch, albeit offering less coverage. It has a nice finish and feels nice on skin.
Teint Perfect Skin by Lierac, 29,90 €
My skin feels a bit sticky after using this one – I blame that on the SPF20 – but I like how this formula makes my skin look: more even and brighter. You can compare this one to Sisley but I still prefer the latter as it gives my skin just a bit more oomph.
