Winkelhieren kan ook perfect wanneer je een nieuwe mascara, oogpotlood of lipstick nodig hebt. Hoewel ons land veel meer (natuurlijke) huidverzorging van eigen bodem heeft, zijn er ook best wel wat make-upmerkjes die onze steun (in lockdowntijden, maar zeker ook erna) meer dan waard zijn.

Lokaal en/of Belgisch kopen is alleen maar belangrijker geworden in deze bizarre tijden. Van die leuke conceptstore in je gemeente, gerund door een alleenstaande moeder van twee kinderen, over in België gekweekte tulpen bij de natuurwinkel tot de hondenijsjes van Smoofl: iedere zelfstandige kan je steun nu extra goed gebruiken. Ook wat make-up betreft kan je Belgisch gaan, of je bestelt online bij een Belgische webshop of parfumerie.
Deze merken zijn alvast Belgisch.

BE Creative Make Up
Het “huismerk” van Ici Paris XL. (Goed, de keten is in handen van de Chinese groep A.S. Watson en dus niet 100% Belgisch meer, maar in mijn ogen is ze het vermelden meer dan waard.) Het make-upmerk wil professionele producten aan een budgetvriendelijke prijs aanbieden,
Er zijn evergreens die altijd in het gamma zitten, ondermeer érg veel tinten lipstick in drie finishes, maar BE Creative Make Up lanceert ook verschillende keren per jaar een limited edition-collectie.
Dit Sunset Summer Glow Eyeshadow Palette (€ 19,95) zit in de zomercollectie. De zes goed gepigmenteerde matte en metallic kleurtjes oogschaduw, geïnspireerd op de zonsondergang, zijn perfect voor een vurige, gekleurde smokey, maar er zitten ook tinten in die perféct geschikt zijn als passe partout-kleurtje voor elke dag.
ProNails
Dit nagellak- en nagelverzorgingsmerk is wereldwijd bekend, maar produceert zijn lakjes – de langhoudende Longwearlak en de doe-het-zelfgellak SelfGel voor de particulier, gellak en andere professionele producten voor nagelsalons – nog steeds in Brasschaat. Héél veel (on trend) kleuren met leuke namen, betaalbaar en van goede kwaliteit.
Toen een paar jaar geleden verschillende merken met “langhoudende” nagellak kwamen, lanceerde ProNails zijn Longwear met naast een topcoat en lakjes ook een base coat, in tegenstelling tot de meeste andere merken, zodat je nagels niet verkleuren. Deze oranjerode tint, 205 Red Earth, was een limited edition, 245 Stuck in the Game komt, dénk ik, in de buurt.
Momenteel kan je de producten op de tijdelijk opgezette webshop kopen, anders vind je ze in het nagelsalon en de Longwear en Self Gel ook bij Di.
Mylène
Bekend van zijn home parties, maar gelukkig is er ook al eventjes een webshop waar het merk zijn ruime aanbod gezichts- en lichaamsverzorging, zonneproducten, make-up, interieurparfums en was- en schoonmaakmiddelen, verkoopt.
Ik testte de oogschaduwstick (die was ok, maar niet uitzonderlijk) en deze Eyeliner (€ 11,10) die me aangenaam verraste. Het crèmige oogpotlood glijdt erg vlot over de huid én blijft lang zitten. Je kan het lijntje ook makkelijk vervagen voor een snelle smokey. Beschikbaar in verschillende kleurtjes, van traditioneel zwart en bruin tot trendy aquablauw.
Cent Pur Cent
Limburgse minerale make-up. Je vindt de losse poederfoundations, oogschaduwpaletten, lipgloss, mascara’s en meer bij de apotheek, een paar concept stores en Rainpharma-instituten en sinds 6 april is er ook de eigen webshop.
De formules zijn hypoallergeen en worden (normaal gezien) ook goed verdragen door de gevoelige huid.
De Mascara Le Volumineux (€ 22,99) is één van mijn nieuwe mascarafavorieten. Een vriendin vroeg bij een lunchdate – lang voor de lockdown, geen paniek! – zelfs welke mascara ik droeg omdat ze mijn wimpers zo mooi naturel opgemaakt, maar toch mooi gedefinieerd vond. De formule verlengt en geeft volume, zonder dat het overdreven wordt. Handig borsteltje ook. (Je hebt wel een goede oogmake-upremover nodig om alle restjes weg te halen.)

Les Couleurs de Noir
Hypoallergene, parfumloze make-up die je bij de apotheek koopt. Ik ben fan van de crèmige oogpotloden (vergelijkbaar met die van Mylène, maar met een meer metallic finish en in meer traditionele kleuren) en hoorde ook al erg goede dingen over de CC Cream.

Kledij, skincare en make-up voor drukke urban vrouwen die duurzaam (proberen te) leven. De cosmeticaproducten zijn vegan, komen in duurzame verpakkingen en worden in België en Italië gemaakt. Er zijn drie felgekleurde oogschaduwduo’s, drie tinten blush, een mascara en zes rijk gepigmenteerde matte lippenstiften.
Van die laatste heb ik al veel goeds gehoord. Je kan ze op je lippen deppen voor een waasje kleur, of gaat voor het volle effect. (Ik kan ze niet testen omdat ze geparfumeerd zijn.)

Het huismerk van Planet Parfum. (Ook deze parfumerieketen is niet langer puur Belgisch, maar al enkele jaren in handen van een Franse groep.)
Vergeet de Koreaans geïnspireerde accessoires, de investering waard zijn de make-uppenselen, (grotendeels natuurlijke) lippenstiften en nagellakjes. (Er is ook een fijne oogmake-upremover.)

You need a new mascara, eye pencil or lipstick? Try to buy from a local (web)shop and/or Belgian brand (if you live in Belgium). Our little country has gained quite a lot of skincare brands over the past ten years but it has some interesting make-up brands as well. #ikkoopbelgisch
Shopping locally and buying brands from the country you live in has only become more important in these bizarre lockdown times. Support your locals, also when it comes to make-up: buy from a Belgian webshop or go completely Belgian and invest in one (or more) of these make-up brands.

BE Creative Make Up
The private label of Ici Paris XL. (I know, the chain of perfumeries is owned by A.S. Watson and no longer 100% Belgian but in my opinion it is still worth mentioning.) The make-up brand wants to offer professional products at a good price: make-up brushes, foundations, eye shadow, loads of lipstick colours in three finishes… It has a permanent selection of colours but does a couple of limited edition collections each year as well.
This Sunset Summer Glow Eyeshadow Palette (19,95 €) from the summer collection contains six matte and metallic eye shadows, inspired by the sunset. Great if you like a smouldering colored smokey eye but you can use some of the colours for a neutral daily eye make-up look as well.
ProNails
This professional nail polish brand is known all over the world but it still produces its nail polishes in its factory in Brasschaat. There is the DIY gel polish SelfGel and the Longwear Nailpolish for manicures at home but the brand is especially known for its professional gel polish and other types of nail salon polishes. It produces hand, nail and foot care, too.
It offers a LOT of (on trend) colours with funny names, is pretty affordable and the quality is good.
The orangey red in the picture, 205 Red Earth, was a limited edition Longwear colour but I think the new 245 Stuck in the Game comes pretty close. Good to know: you can now buy all products on the temporary lockdown webshop as all nail salons are closed. (Di offers the SelfGel kit and polishes and the Longwear as well.)
Mylène
It is well known for its home parties but the brand has a webshop, too, where it sells its skin and body care, sunscreens, make-up, interior fragrances, washing liquid and cleaning products.
I tested the eye shadow stick (ok but not exceptional) but this Eyeliner (11,10 €) really impressed me. It’s a very creamy crayon that glides smoothly over eyelids and stays put a long time. You can easily smudge it for a quick smokey. It comes in different colours, from the traditional black and brown to a trendy aqua blue.
Cent Pur Cent
Mineral make-up from Limburg: loose powder foundations, eye shadow, lip gloss, mascara and more. It is sold at the pharmacy, in a couple of concept stores and Rainpharma institutes but the brand launched its own webshop on 6 April.
The formulas are hypoallergenic and well tolerated by sensitive skin.
Its Mascara Le Volumineux (22,99 €) is one of my new favourite mascaras. A friend even asked me what mascara I was wearing on our lunch date – well before the lockdown, obviously – as she thought my lashes looked well defined but still natural. That’s exactly what this mascara does: it lengthens and adds volume without looking too much. You do need a good eye make-up remover to make sure you have taken off the very last traces of its formule before going to bed.

Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free make-up you can find at the pharmacy. I like the creamy eyeliner pencils (you can compare their quality to the Mylène ones but these have a more metallic finish and come in more subtle colours) and I heard good things about its CC Cream as well.

Clothing, skincare and make-up for busy urban women who try to live sustainably. The cosmetics are vegan, come in sustainable packaging and are produced in Belgium and Italy. There are three brightly coloured eye shadow duos, three blushes, a mascara and six richly pigmented matte lipsticks I have heard a lot of good about.
