Ontsmettende handgel, het is een noodzakelijk kwaad geworden dat je liefst altijd op zak hebt. Bij deze: vier helemaal Belgische exemplaren zodat je meteen ook lokale merken steunt wanneer je voor de 566ste keer deze week je handen ontsmet.

Geef toe, als je dan toch je handen moet ontsmetten voor je een winkel/restaurant/museum/… binnen gaat, doe je dat dan niet liever met je eigen flesje handgel in plaats van met die gigabus ontsmettende alcohol met dat wat vies ogende, lekkende pompje dat al door weet ik hoeveel onbekende handen is aangeraakt? Clean Things for Dirty Minds van Skin by Dings, € 15 voor 100 ml.
Na fijne zonbescherming voor het hele gezin is er nu ook een ontsmettende handgel, made in Belgium. Die stond niet meteen op het originele to do-lijstje van Ciska Dings, de oprichtster van het merk, maar nood breekt wet. Als we dan toch onze handen zo vaak moeten ontsmetten, laten we het dan doen met een product dat hen niet volledig uitdroogt en hun microbioom ook niet uit helemaal balans brengt, dacht ze.
De slechte beestjes gaan eraan dankzij 70% alcohol, maar Dings voegde ook prebiotica toe (de fructose en inuline op de INCI) die de goede bacteriën die op onze huid leven voeden en zo in goede gezondheid moeten helpen houden. Een stevige dosis glycerine moet het uitdrogende effect van de alcohol aanpakken. Deze handgel belooft de huid van je handen zacht en rustig te houden.
De formule kreeg dezelfde uniseks geur mee als die van de zonneproducten. (Prebiotica hebben naar verluidt niet zo’n aangenaam geurtje…) Opgelet dus als je op parfum reageert. (Ik mag hem niet gebruiken omdat er linalool in zit.)
Pure Clean van Celestetic, € 5,25 voor 100 ml
Het cosmetceuticalsmerk besloot aan het begin van de coronacrisis zijn productie uit te breiden en ontsmettende handgel te beginnen produceren omdat er toen een tekort aan was. Celestetic houdt het simpel met een niet-geparfumeerde formule met 70% alcohol die in Wallonië wordt geproduceerd. Eén flesje is goed voor 100 keer ontsmetten. 5% van de omzet gaat tot eind mei bovendien naar wetenschappelijk covid 19-onderzoek. Het merk hoopt op die manier € 100.000 op te halen voor 1 juni.
Handsome Rinse-Free Cleanser van RainPharma, € 39 voor 500 ml
Geen aanrader voor wie gevoelig/allergisch is aan essentiële oliën zoals ik, wel fijn als je van een lekkere, natuurlijke geur houdt zoals we ze gewoon zijn van het Belgische merk. RainPharma mixte essentiële olie van tijm, citroen, lavendel, eucalyptus, gember en salie tot een lekker geurtje dat die van de natuurlijke alcohol verdoezelt. Rozenwater, glycerine en kalmerende plantenextracten (de aqua/phragmites karka extract/poria cocos extract in de INCI) moeten het uitdrogende effect van alcohol counteren.
Dit formaat stop je niet meteen handig in je handtas, maar een grote fles is wel praktisch als je thuis graag snel je handen ontsmet – of je gasten ze laat ontsmetten – zonder ze te hoeven wassen met water en zeep. Of als je de klanten van je winkel/kapsalon/schoonheidssalon graag een lekker geurende handgel aanbiedt bij het binnenkomen. (Ik moet wel bekennen dat ik als allergiepatiënt in winkels & co ongeparfumeerde alcoholgel prefereer. Ik heb altijd een eigen flesje mee met ongeparfumeerde gel voor het geval die er niet is.)
Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel van Ukiyo Selfcare, € 17 voor 30 ml
Juweelontwerpster Laurence Delvallez creëerde een eigen luxueus handverzorgingsmerk omdat ze vindt dat onze handen meer aandacht verdienen dan ze doorsnee krijgen, zeker in deze tijden van veelvuldig handen wassen en ontsmetten. Naast oliën en verzorgende crèmes zijn er ook ontsmettende sprays en gels met 80% alcohol. Elk product kreeg een (verschillend) lekker geurtje mee dat ook je mood moet boosten.
Zo belooft de mix van essentiële olie van lavendel, pepermunt en salie in de handgel voor vrouwen je een geruststellend gevoel te geven. Glycerine en aloë vera moeten je handen verzorgen.
De ontsmettende spray voor vrouwen heeft dan weer een citrusgeurtje. Die voor mannen ruikt naar naaldbomen en kamille. Geen aanrader voor wie gevoelig is aan essentiële oliën dus, wel fijn voor wie dat niet is.

Disinfecting hand gel, who would have thought it would ever become a musthave in our handbags? Hand sanitizers are a necessary evil so why not support Belgian brands while disinfecting your hands for the 566th time this week?

First there was the sun protection the whole family loves to use, now there is a hand sanitizer as well. It may not have been on Ciska Dings’ original to do list but needs must and all that. So the owner of Skin by Dings decided to create a disinfecting hand gel with a difference. It promises to keep your hands and their microbiome healthy and happy.
Kill the bad guys (thanks to 70% alcohol), feed the good ones with prebiotics (the fructose and insulin on the INCI). A good dose of glycerin helps skin stay hydrated. The formula has the same unisex fragrance as the sunscreens. (Prebiotics do not smell that nice, apparently…) I cannot use it as it contains linalool but you might not react to it.

The cosmeceuticals brand decided to start making hand sanitizer at the beginning of the corona crisis when stores (and hospitals) ran out of the product. It keeps it simple with a fragrance-free formula with 70% alcohol that is being made in Wallonia. One bottle equals 100 times of disinfecting your hands. 5% of the turnover goes to covid 19 research. The brand hopes to gather 100.000 € that way before 1 June.

If you are into nice natural smells, this one’s for you. (If you are allergic/sensitive to essential oils, like me, stay clear of it.) RainPharma mixed essential oils of thyme, lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, ginger and sage into a nice smell that camouflages the not so nice alcohol smell. Rose water, glycerine and soothing plant extracts (the aqua/phragmites karka extract/poria cocos extract in the INCI) have to counter the drying effect of the alcohol.
Now, this is not a bottle you can easily put in your handbag/use on the go but the big bottle comes in handy if you and your family like to disinfect your/their hands regularly while at home, instead of washing them. Or when you have guests over. Or if you want to offer the customers of your hair salon/store/spa a disinfecting hand gel that smells nice when they enter your business. (Being allergic to fragrance myself, I prefer non-fragranced alcohol gels in stores. I always carry my own bottle to use when I am not sure whether the product offered in store contains fragrance or not.)
Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel by Ukiyo Selfcare, 17 € for 30 ml
Jewelry designer Laurence Delvallez created a handcare brand deluxe as she thinks our hands are not getting the attention they deserve, especially not now, when we have to wash and disinfect them constantly. There are hand oils, creams and disinfecting sprays and gels with 80% alcohol. Every product has a different smell that promises to lift your mood.
The mix of essential oils of lavender, spearmint and sage in the handgel for women has a comforting effect. Glycerin and aloe vera care for your hands.
The disinfecting spray for women has a citrus fragrance, the spray for men smells of pines and chamomile. The range is not a good idea if you are sensitive/allergic to essential oils, a nice touch if you aren’t.
